Imagine a lookout post in the jungle with a radio tapped into the center of the earth. As the radio passes through the ground it picks up the sounds of revolution, struggle, holiness, and the ether of plant life woven into words like efflorescence. Somewhere through the leaves there’s a reedy sound, an organ, a clearing where the marching dissolves, and the radio broadcasts the frequency of the human heart.

It’s a strange sound at first, not exactly a song, just the heart as it struggles and grows, delays and discourses through a landscape of inverted trees, convulsing some secret meaning. That’s what this record sounds like: being at the top of the lookout post, where the mountain range splits and the river is nearby, listening, waiting for something, locked in, both armed and gentle, almost snoozing, hat low, listening to the earthbound signal.

Voices:
Track 1: Miguel Enríquez (MIR: Revolutionary Left Movement, Chile). Probably his last speech before the military coup, the dictatorship and his murder (1973).

Track 2: Carlos Fonseca Amador (FSLN: Sandinista National Liberation Front, Nicaragua). Radio broadcast after being freed from prison in Costa Rica (1969).

Track 3: Camilo Cienfuegos (Cuban Revolution). Last speech in Cuba before disappearing in circumstances not yet clarified (1959).

Track 4: Subcomandante Insurgente Marcos (EZLN: Zapatista Army of National Liberation, México). Interview in Lacandon Jungle (1996).

All tracks were recorded in Guayaquil between February and July 2022 at Radio Fome's home studio.
